As well as spending three decades in the financial services industry in senior leaderships roles across the globe, Wayne is a also a former Royal Navy Officer who specialised in flying helicopters. During his varied career he has seen first-hand how mental fitness shapes both personal resilience and professional success and as a result firmly believes strongly in both self-help and professional training. During his post Navy career, Wayne has studied and was awarded and an MBA in finance and strategy and more latterly has passed the Common Professional Examination at law.
His journey from flying Royal Navy helicopters to a three decade long career in financial services and now working in mental fitness and health is a deeply personal one. From the inherent danger of naval aviation to the vagaries in financial services leadership, he has experienced the critical importance of mental fitness in high-pressure environments. This perspective drives his passion for helping others in this sphere.
As a seasoned foster carer he has also seen how important it is that schools are thoroughly inclusive communities where all pupils and staff thrive because mental fitness and health are wholeheartedly supported, now and for generations to come. Wayne has experienced first-hand the positive impact on children attending a school where inclusivity, and mental health and fitness are of paramount importance, and believes that this should be the norm.
Wayne also is also Head of Partnerships at Leafyard, who are revolutionising workplace mental fitness through behavioural science and AI.
His lifelong experience and more recent work as a foster carer adds a different dimension to the Minds Ahead team. Wayne is a former parent governor at a primary school.
