New solutions are required to address the complexity of mental health needs. Alongside Leeds Beckett University we are creating professional leadership development opportunities including masters-level qualifications.

As a school leader you will identify and implement improvements to mental health in your setting. Your school specific evidence-based changes will reduce inequalities and strengthen the mental health of pupils, staff and parents.

We’ve worked with over 6,000 schools. School leaders have successfully completed our courses and are now using their specialist knowledge to sustainably embed effective mental health strategies.

You can develop your mental health leadership by completing the following  DfE quality-assured courses:

Establishing a whole school approach as Senior Mental Health Lead – BEGINNER  

Those just beginning their journey as a Senior Mental Health Lead, or those looking to re-establish their current approach.

You will be supported to create an intent statement, policy and an effective plan to improve your setting’s approach to mental health.

You will leave with a transformational vision for your setting, rooted in evidence and based upon best-practice from inspirational leaders across the sector.

4 months, including:  

  • 8 online units. 
  • Group coaching sessions.
  • 1 regional face to face day with coaching triads and round table discussions.

Developing an in-depth whole school approach as School Mental Health Lead – INTERMEDIATE  

Senior Mental Health Leads looking to further develop the school mental health support offered. 

You will be supported to assess what you are currently doing in your setting to enable you to make evidence-based changes to the whole school approach. 

This will involve creating an action plan to focus on developing, introducing, or improving your current assessment of interventions. 

4 months, including:  

  • 8 online units. 
  • Group coaching sessions.
  • 1 regional face to face day with coaching triads and round table discussions.

Specialist setting / Alternative Provision Senior Mental Health Lead Training– INTERMEDIATE 

Senior Mental Health Leads working in Specialist Settings or Alternative Provisions. 

You will develop your intent for your Mental Health and Wellbeing provision, examine the methods used to assess your current interventions; consider how your staff interpret the information or observations from or of students, evaluate the available interventions and assess the impact of these.

4 months, including:  

  • 8 online units. 
  • Group coaching sessions.
  • 1 regional face to face day with coaching triads and round table discussions.

Embedding a Strategic Approach as a Senior Mental Health Lead- ADVANCED 

Experienced and established Senior Mental Health Leads who have been in post for a number of years and are keen to remain on top of this important agenda and seeking to significantly deepen their leadership.

You will focus on how you tie together the various strands of the whole school approach to mental health, developing your three-year roadmap for whole school strategic change and your own leadership development plan, identifying how you can increase your leadership potential in the coming year.

This course will provide you with the tools to evaluate your strategic choices, helping you make marginal gains where you can and resulting in an ambitious school improvement strategy. 

4 months, including:  

  • 8 online units. 
  • Group coaching sessions.
  • 1 regional face to face day with coaching triads and round table discussions.

Masters in School Leadership of Mental Health and Wellbeing 

This unique course is for those leading mental health across their school, college or group of schools.

The UK’s first Masters in School Leadership of Mental Health and Wellbeing for school and college leaders.

This course will enable you to promote positive mental health and wellbeing, help your school adopt strategies which prevent mental illness and improve your support processes for children and young people in schools.

1 year part time, distance learning (as a Postgraduate Certificate)

2 years part-time, distance learning (as a Postgraduate Diploma). 

2 year part-time + Dissertation, distance learning (as a full Masters)
