Minds Ahead have benefitted from a high-level strategic review, providing added in clarity on how we can improve mental health within our schools.
Minds Ahead were selected by Pilotlight to join their strategic review programme in partnership with Barclays. The brief of this review was to provide strategic advice so that Minds Ahead can continue to transform mental health within our schools.
Pilotlight is an award-winning charity that connects business leaders with charitable organisations to unlock solutions that help social enterprises to become more effective and sustainable. The Barclay’s Strategic Review Programme engaged a team of Directors from across the group to conduct a strategic review with Minds Ahead and produce clear, actionable recommendations.
The Barclays team working on this project encompassed came from a range of professional backgrounds. There was a strong commitment from all members of the team to develop a deep understanding of the work of Minds Ahead and the broader educational landscape.
It was refreshing and inspiring to see the passion and commitment from all members of the Barclays team to the issues facing schools and children. It was of benefit to work with this team which did not have professional experience with education and mental health, as it allowed for probing questions, challenging assumptions and generating innovative ideas.
The Barclay’s team came up with a series of practical recommendations aimed at strengthening the work of Minds Ahead, all of which aligned to the vision of supporting schools to be world leaders in mental health.
Several themes emerged, which Minds Ahead recognised need addressing. The most pressing is the lack of clarity across the sector on the role and impact of mental health and educational outcomes. Whilst this remains, schools will understandably be unclear on their role when it comes to mental health.
Minds Ahead are working through the recommendations over the coming months.
